About “The Echo of Our Souls”
The concept of the soul is deeply rooted in various spiritual, religious and philosophical traditions. It is often regarded as the essence or core of a person’s being, the incorporeal and immortal aspect that transcends physical existence. In many religious traditions, the soul is seen as the divine spark or spiritual entity within an individual that connects them to a higher power or divine realm. It is considered the seat of consciousness, identity and the source of moral and ethical values. Philosophically, the soul is often associated with the mind, consciousness and subjective experience. It represents the innermost self, including one’s thoughts, emotions and personal identity.
The Music
The Echo of Our Souls is a piece that has such an endearing memory and is one of my favourite pieces to date. This particular piece has a beautiful melody that is accentuated by some few choice chords throughout the piece. It is a piece that really builds around the first inversion of the C major chord. The first inversion of the tonic chord, in C Major, offers a slight colouring in the sound. The change is not too big, like a modulation, neither is it too small, that it goes unnoticed. The first inversion chord really provides a nice movement in the early sections of this piece. For me, metaphorically, the first inversion in The Echo of Our Souls, is likened to the changes that we experience in life. They can be small but still affect us in a way that we notice.
