About “By the Water”
By the water’s edge, I find my solace sweet,
A place where life’s hurried pace takes a back seat.
The rippling waves sing a calming song,
As the world around me starts to slow, to prolong.
Beneath the cerulean sky, I stand and gaze,
At the endless horizon, in a tranquil daze.
With every lapping wave and whispered breeze,
I find a moment’s peace, my soul at ease.
The water mirrors the sky’s vast embrace,
Reflecting the heavens in its shimmering grace.
By the water’s edge, I shed my cares and woes,
And in the stillness, my spirit truly glows.
Here, I’m lost in nature’s timeless grace,
By the water’s edge, I find my sacred place.
It’s a reminder that in life’s ceaseless flow,
We can discover serenity, letting our worries go.
The Music
This particular piece began as a recording of a piano improvisation which lay underdeveloped for many years. It was after several years, I decided to transcribe the piece to notation, using Sibelius. I added a ‘B’ section to the piece which is the more upbeat section in the music video. I then began orchestrating the piece based off of the piano transcription. I used BBCSO Core version (download template). It turned out much better than I expected for my first try at orchestrating.
