Summer time radiates with vibrant energy, painting the world in warmth and colour. It’s a season of endless days, urging us to embrace the outdoors, soak up the sun and marvel at nature’s beauty. Summer beckons with a sense of liberation, as students enjoy a hiatus from their studies and families plan vacations to new horizons.

Everywhere you turn, there’s the sound of laughter, the scent of barbecues and the refreshing splash of water as people flock to beaches and pools to escape the heat. In summer, nature reveals its full splendour, dressing landscapes in lush greenery, blooming flowers and lively wildlife. Days stretch out, inviting us to partake in outdoor pursuits, from picnics in the park to hikes through forests and climbs up mountains.

It’s a season of rejuvenation and exploration, shedding winter layers to embrace the ease of shorts, sundresses and sandals. Summer encourages us to savour simple pleasures, like the taste of ice cream, lazy afternoons with a good book and precious moments with loved ones. The warm embrace of the summer sun not only invigorates our bodies but also lifts our spirits. With extended daylight, we find more opportunities to pursue our passions, try new activities or simply revel in the beauty of a sunset.

Summer becomes a time for adventure. Whether lounging in a hammock under leafy trees or feeling the sand between our toes on a beach stroll, summer gifts us with moments of pure joy and discovery, leaving lasting imprints on our hearts.

The Music

This piece starts with the waves crashing on the shore. The piano is then added introducing us to the motif and vibe of the track. By the 25 second mark, the bass, electric guitar, drums and shakers are brought in to lift and further highlight that summer time feel. When the 55 second mark hits, a flute is introduced to introduce a nostalgic melody that reminds me of the 70’s and generally happy days. Along with the flute, bongos are introduced to give that Caribbean/pacific feel to this B section. At 1:38 the main theme returns with the electric guitar adding a counter melody that helps bring variation to the A section. The drums increase their hi-hat pattern to really drive home this final section. At 2:02 we have a restatement of the them as the track begins to wind down. We are then left with the piano and the ocean restating the theme and with slight harmonic shifts to really raise the level of emotion and nostalgia. This truly is the perfect background music for summer.
