About “Sail Away to Forgotten Shores”
Sailing Away to Forgotten Shores is like a call to adventure. Just like sailors braving uncharted waters, we embrace the excitement of stepping out of our comfort zones and leaving behind the humdrum of everyday life. Out there, amidst the vastness of the sea, we discover a sense of freedom and endless possibilities, guided only by the winds and our own intuition.
It’s a journey of self-discovery and transformation. Sailing towards forgotten shores embodies the spirit of adventure and the quest for something greater, where every wave carries the promise of new experiences and hidden treasures. Despite the storms and challenges we may face along the way, the allure of undiscovered horizons keeps us steadfast on our voyage, fuelled by courage and determination. So, let’s hoist the sails and set forth into the unknown, for the journey itself is the greatest reward, and the forgotten shores await those bold enough to seek them.
The Music
Sail Away to Forgotten Shores begins with a sampled sound of waves crashing on the beach. The piano and guitar then are played over the samples with the piano playing the melody and the guitar playing the accompaniment. By the 30 second mark, we have a choir pad, that joins along with the bass, further thickening the texture and deepening the emotions. By the 50 second mark, the drums kick in and help propel the music forward. This is to depict a journey and progression. By the 1:28 mark, the drums are removed in order to depict smooth sailing. This is further enhanced with a pan flute playing a counter melody to the piano. This is what gives the piece a sense of a time long gone, especially with the reverb on the flute. By 2:25, the drums return and the piano moves into a more accompanying role but maintains the melody. The guitar also has some melodic parts within this section to fill in any quiet parts. By the end, we are left with the samples of the waves and the piano – a delicate finish to a wondrous journey.
