About “Quiet Confidence”
Quiet Confidence is like a quiet breeze that doesn’t need to shout to be felt. It’s this inner strength that doesn’t need flashy displays or loud claims. People who have this quiet confidence just seem to have this peaceful air about them, like they’re grounded and sure of themselves without needing to show off.
In the face of challenges, those with quiet confidence maintain composure and face adversity with grace. They do not seek validation from external sources but instead find validation within themselves. This inner conviction allows them to pursue their goals with determination and resilience, undeterred by setbacks or criticism. This song about quiet confidence says it’s not about being flashy or seeking attention; it is a steadfast presence that speaks volumes without saying a word, inspiring those around them and creating an atmosphere of trust and assurance.
This particular piece begins rimshots and hi-hats before the piano, bass and electric guitar come in with the main theme. The piano has the main melody and the guitar harmonises parts of the melody to enhance the shape of the melody. In the first part of the B section, I was going for a cooler and calmer timbre using percussive sounds such as the tambourine, hi-hats and rim shots to create the laid back rhythm. The guitar is playing an arpeggiated chord and the piano is also part of the percussion group with it’s eighth note chords. In the 2nd part of the B section, the piano takes more of a forward role improvising above the other percussion instruments. The song returns to the original melody for the final section bringing familiarity back to the piece. In the coda, the main theme is repeated with the piano and bass, but with a slight harmonic shift, giving it a sense of resolution and nostalgia.
